PRACTICE: Shoes Under the Bed

Keeping Sturdy Shoes Under Each Bed

When you get home today, check to ensure there is a pair of sturdy shoes under the bed of each loved one. Cut feet are the most common disaster injury, especially for disasters occurring in the middle of the night. We are abruptly awakened, so we are a bit disoriented. We spring out of bed with little thought, only to step on sharp, broken objects that have been thrown to the ground by the upheaving of disaster. It is easy to prevent these serious cuts. Train all your loved ones immediately to put on the pair of sturdy shoes kept under his/her bed. Prepare by incorporating the putting on of these shoes into each earthquake and other disaster response practice you conduct. For complete information, go to: www.spandisaster.org
