Ward Preparedness Specialist – ideas to start
You may wonder where to start if you have been asked to serve as the Emergency Preparedness Specialist in your Ward.
Here is what has worked well for me.
I suggest starting with helping Ward members increase their
personal and family disaster readiness.
My 30+ years of professional experience in helping literally tens of thousands of people prepare has demonstrated
the power of process.
Consequently, I recommend helping people
one prep activity each month.
Additionally, motivation to prepare is dramatically increased as people engage in practice exercises which utilizes their preparedness. I help people use their preparedness in
one practice exercise each month.
Family Home Evening is a perfect place to incorporate these preparedness activities and practice exercises.
Our goal is to motivate action.
Each of these tools reinforce each other
by providing sequentially more detailed instruction,
designed to increase confidence and competence in one's knowledge and abilities.
